Merry Christmas from the Art Room

Term 4 ~ Grade 5/6

The majority of this term has been spent on creating Scrapbooking memento pages with the Grade 5/6 students. These will be on display at school and also at the Graduation Evening for the Grade 6 students.

At the beginning of the term, students created these radial symmetry paper relief sculptures. They looked amazing on display in the Art Room!

Term 4 ~ Grade 3/4

Grade 3/4 students worked with ink and watercolours to create these gorgeous surfacing whales after sharing the book 'The Blue Whale' by Jenni Desmond.

 

We investigated the animals and landscape of Antarctica, sharing the book 'Sophie Scott Goes South' by Alison Lester. We created a number of artworks in response to this book.

We also learned all about Jacques Cousteau and his wonderful contributions to science and sea exploration. These scuba divers were tricky to draw!

Term 4 ~ Grade 1/2

Grade 1/2 students learned all about illustrator/author Barbara Reid this term. Rather than making illustrations for her books using pencils or paints, Barbara models her images out of plasticine.

Students really enjoyed using this modelling material to make their own images, with a focus on using space to create a background and foreground.

Students also enjoyed using watercolour pencils to draw some spring blooms, as well as investigating Monet and his water lily paintings.
